About the Dalby Welcoming Community Inc
In the heart of Queensland’s Western Downs region, Dalby Welcoming Community Inc. is a small but vibrant not-for-profit group dedicated to helping our community spirit shine bright.
Established in 2008 in response to the changes brought by the Surat Basin mining boom, the group was formed to ensure Dalby remains a welcoming, vibrant, and attractive place for everyone. We’re passionate about connecting with locals, embracing newcomers, and building a community that’s inclusive, friendly, and engaged.
Our vision is for Dalby to be the place people choose to live, work, and play at every stage of life – a community where everyone feels they belong, mutual respect is valued, and connections flourish. We aim to inspire participation in activities and the development of shared spaces that foster happiness, wellbeing, and togetherness.

The community group’s core purposes are:
- To bring the community together

- To celebrate our community and cultural diversity
- To ensure Dalby is a welcoming place
- To have a signature event for Dalby
- To encourage more visitors to come to Dalby
A highlight of our efforts is the Dalby’s Delicious & DeLIGHTful Festival, held biennially to celebrate the incredible diversity within our town. It’s a time when cultures come together to share delicious food, lively performances, and a spectacular lantern parade that lights up the night in a true display of unity and joy.
